SpaceX filed a preliminary S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 20 May 2026, officially setting the IPO in motion. The company intends to list its Class A shares on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SPCX, positioning itself as an integrated technology holding company built around three segments: aerospace, satellite connectivity and artificial intelligence.
Estimates point to a target market capitalisation of 2 trillion dollars, which would immediately place SpaceX among the top 10 largest market caps in the world. The biggest surprise in the prospectus is the scale of the company. In early 2026, SpaceX acquired xAI, meaning the group now also encompasses Grok, X and AI compute infrastructure — alongside Falcon, Dragon, Starship and Starlink. The roadshow was scheduled to begin on 8 June, with possible pricing on 15 June 2026.
